A coffer is a strongbox or small chest for holding valuables. This Ferrara Coffer, named after the Italian town, was hand cut on the scrollsaw by Lawrence Peterson. This is an alluring coffer nicely ornamented with floral motifs in the art nouveau style. The pattern is based in an old Italian design from the beginning of the 20th Century.
The pattern has been designed to use 3/16" wood and results in a 15'7" x 4.6" x 6" finished piece. The woods are Canary, Hard Maple, Morado, Black Walnut and a bit of Bubinga and Yellow heart for the central flower on the top. Finish is a brushed semi-gloss polyurethane.
