Woodchips Woodworking Club was formed in 2003 to provide a dedicated woodworking venue for the Sun City Anthem Community. The Club welcomes any resident that has an interest in working with wood and creating any wooden project. Past projects have included small basic items such as trivets, cutting boards, and picture frames, and large elaborate items such as entertainment centers and built-in offices, as well as ornate or intricate items such as jewelry boxes, scroll saw art pieces, and segmented bowls. The woodshop consists of approximately 1,800 square feet of machine and bench workspace. Based on usage, maintenance and repair considerations, seasonal influences, or other circumstances, the Woodchips Board may from time-to-time modify hours of operation of the woodshop. In general, the woodshop is “open” as follows:

In addition to the scheduled general usage shop hours, the shop will also have designated periods exclusively for safety and other training, workshop classes, community projects and maintenance. Safety is a primary focus of the Club. While providing a friendly environment to work with modern machines, the Club has established strict safety procedures to ensure the safety of our members. For detailed information concerning safety classes and rules, please refer to the Shop Manual posted on the website. The Woodchips website contains complete information on all training, schedules, operational procedures, member projects, club events, and meeting agendas and minutes, and serves as the operational center of the Club. Club announcements are regularly posted to the site, the Club’s official calendar is maintained on the site, Members self-enroll in safety and other classes and events through the site. Woodchips works with SCA, other clubs, and selected charitable causes to provide assistance with woodworking needs. To enhance the woodworking experience, the Club arranges and promotes various seminars, demonstrations, field trips and special projects. Woodchips welcomes new members. Club dues are $40 annually. Except during summer months, General Membership meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month. Members are encouraged to attend General membership meetings, and residents considering joining Woodchips are invited to attend as our guests.
