New member Sylvia Hill envisioned a wooden box similar to one made by her great-great-grandmother. No plans were available, no measurements, I had no skills, etc. Foreman, Ken Baker volunteered to mentor me. His patience and knowledge led my husband Gil & I through the process, which required using several new skills and machines. Ken spent many hours assuring the project moved along and was successful. Along the way, several other members were available in the shop when I had questions or needed help. Walnut wood was used, with thanks to Scott for a contribution. Antique hinges and clasp were the finishing touches. Sanders, saws, router, clamps, glue, oil etc. I could not have completed it without the tools, supplies, and knowledge of the Club. I would like other 'not experienced' members to be encouraged to set forth on a project. Thank you Woodchips. We will enjoy this piece for many years.
