Octogonal Box 1

Fretwork is a technique on the scroll saw whose word derivation is based on “fret: to eat or gnaw into.”  This octoganal box, in Cherry wood, involved a lot of gnawing for Woodchipper Lawrence Peterson.  The thickness of the wood had to match the slots for assembly and took some extra work, while the wood grain led to fragile breaks possible until the glue set in.
