Woodchipper Ann F has finished her first woodworking project as a Member of Woodchips-- a floating frame for a painting she also created. Ann is understandably pleased that she completed this special frame without assistance from a mentor, but acknowledges lots of helpful advice from Members who observed her working on it, for which she is thankful.
Ann selected poplar for her floating frame. It has curved, keyed corners, and is embellished with copper horseshoe nails. She finished the piece with Minwax gunstock stain and polyurethane. The frame holds a master copy painted by Ann of The Piebald Horse! The original 17th Century painting, by Paulus Potter, hangs in the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. When Ann saw the original painting last fall at the museum, she fell in love with it, and wanted to reproduce it for her home. Ann's painting is 18" X 20", the same dimensions as the original, and is currently proudly displayed in her home. Beautiful work, Ann! Thank you for sharing it with us!
