This is an alluring shelf with a huge amount of ornamentation containing among other things several fantastical figures and plenty of floral motifs. The rear piece is = divided in several sections for easier cutting, thus some reinforcement is necessary in the rear of the project to give it strength. Thanks to Dave Cartier for help on incorporating a keyhold router cut for haning the piece into the reinforcement.
The pattern is based on an old Italian design from the beginning of the 1900s century. It was been completely redrawn in the computer using the most advanced graphics techniques by a gentleman in Spain. His patterns are at:

The wood is Maduro, often know as Brazillian Rosewood. A very dense and stable wood with strong grain accents. Finish is hand rubbed Danish Oil followed by a light spray of Matte Polyurethane.
